A Little About Me (2022)

My Headshot.png

D.K. Daniels writes contemporary/realistic fiction with both teen and college-aged characters for an LGBTQ+ audience. His novels stem from an isolated high-school career and rational outlook on life. For the most part, the stories he writes are about young people finding their way in a noisy world.

When D.K. is not writing, he camps and hikes in many countries across the world, and is a major film and game enthusiast. He spends way too much time listing to Indie Folk, giving his dog belly rubs, and tapping away on an old typewriter in the backyard. His love for storytelling derived from consuming hours and hours of entertainment during the most isolated years of his teenagehood. Hailing from Ireland, D.K.'s hobby is backed by his amazing boyfriend and loving family.

Q&A

Q. Can I send fan art?

A. I'd love to see what you have crafted. If you'd like to share artwork inspired by my stories or characters, you can tag me via social media.

Q. Are characters inspired by real people?

A. The characters I create are fragments of my imagination. However, sometimes I use real-life people as inspiration for fleshing out characters. E.g. gestures and mannerisms, personality.

Q. Can you write me a story?

A. As the notion excites me to be nominated for such a role, I have my own stories to tell. You are free to tell me. However, I can’t guarantee I’ll use it. A great deal of time and energy goes into creating my own stories. This time would be better spent with you, creating your own tale. To remain fair to everyone, I'll opt out most times, as I have a lot to contend with now.

Q. Can you write and release serials faster?

A. Unfortunately no... writers... and I mean me. Well, sometimes I like to get out and see the sunshine. Leaving the cave is no easy task, but when I do, it's a life altering accomplishment.

Sometimes I go days in the writing zone, and others I am completely blank. But being able to get out and see a real human helps with creating my stories in the long run. I can only create as fast as I can.

Q. Have you experienced the stories you write?

A. Not always, sometimes common themes might overlap with everyday events in one of my stories. Most times I create fictionalised stories which are inspired by real events which turned out differently, or should have had an alternative outcome. These inspirations come from movies, the news, video games and people I met along the way. I just do my research and I hope I make a connection with the reader.

Q. You haven't responded to my email or comment. Don't you love me?

A. I love you all, but I get a lot of mail. It is not possible to keep up with it all the time. I try to reach out to everyone, saying hi, but this takes time. Please just be patient.

Q. Where are you from?

A. I am from the sunny isle of Ireland... Eh, I suppose temperate... Okay, windy, rainy, cloudy, Éire. I am originally from Dublin, but I currently live in the countryside. I have grown to hate the noisy hustle and bustle of a city.

Q. Will You finish Even If We Tried?

A. I plan to complete it this year (2022.) It has been a long time coming, but this story means a great deal to me, and I want to make sure I do it justice. Be sure to sign up to my mailing list to get the news first.
